Paradise in Paradise, Bahamas

Last days of Bahamas were spent in one of my favorite hotels in Nassau, One and Only Ocean Club. Unlike the Atlantis it's very quiet and remote, plenty of landscape and a private beach to boot. It's a spacious and small resort that's perfect for relaxing.

The resort is famous for being featured in James Bond Casino Royale and plenty of guests come to this hotel for only that reason. Marketing success, I would say.

Dune is the restaurant by Jean George, which consistently serves very delicious and fresh (non fried!) food. It's a rarity in the Bahamas. Outdoor seating and plenty of room inside as well; ocean view is a plus. I highly recommend the tuna tartar and conch salad.

Menu

Gazpacho

Conch salad, as fresh as it can get

Tuna tartar, a must have. Sits on a bed of avocado and soy-ginger-vinegar sauce

Spicy jerk chicken sandwhich. It's really spicy!
During lunch you can get some great photos outdoors. When I went it was drizzling so I didn't have that chance, but you can still enjoy the sound of waves crashing in the back.

My lunch date

After lunch we usually go off to explore the rest of the resort. The food is overpriced, like the rest of the island, but the walk inside the hotel complex makes up for it.  They have several pools, a golf course, and an extensive garden all under care 24/7. The only noise aside from the ocean is the gardeners weaving in and out of the flawless grass.

It's an experience wrapped up in a perfectly manicured blue-and-green packaging with Bahamas stamp on it. Fake? Definitely. But you will never want to leave.

  1. When my mother visited Bahamas, I saw the most photos she shared and I am inlove with its beauty.
