Food post is a must do when in Milan! Last time I had food poisoning right off the bat so I didn't get to eat, well, much of anything*. But this year I was ready to make up for that and wolf down some awesome meals I missed out on.
First things first, pizza. We went to
Obica Mozzarella.
Hands down the best view of the
Duomo. It's a chain restaurant and not exactly known for the food, but the pizza we had was still authentic and tasty! But the atmosphere should convince just about anyone to dine here regardless of the food quality.
*I had
Sponiti, first and last meal of the trip. DO NOT. Terrible, cheap pizza that gives you food poisoning.

Check out the rooftop view! It's the best. |
The restaurant is located on the rooftop of a fancy mall, which sells ridiculous things such as 300 euro bottles of sparkling water and 250 euros of vinegar. No joke.
Hello Kitty water for 250 euros anyone???? |
At least the balsamic vinegar was aged for 25 years before they decided to sell it for 119 euros. |
Extensive menu |
Tomato, cheese, extra aged prosciutto, greens. MM |
Cooked ham, artichoke, olives, special cheese. |
More ham! |
We had an early lunch around 11am, which was perfect since it was mostly empty and we didn't have to wait for a table. The lunch crowd fills fast, though, so beware of the lines!
Anniversary dinner was simply at our hotel. We didn't have to book much in advance - same day reservation - and most of all, the best pasta we've ever had was here at
Restaurant Vun. Michelin star well deserved. They've changed the layout to a smaller space and oddly boring environment in contrast to the rest of the hotel, but the food is anything but plain.
I was initially hesitant about getting the full 9 course meal, but the portion size is perfect and it won't make you feeling overstuffed.

Around 10 tables and decor is unusually plain |
Menu of the night |
Amuse bouche - cheese filled snacks and liquid filled savory candy |
Not your average ham and tomato soup |
Red prawn, which is actually just prawn sashimi. Not a huge fan of raw shellfish, but the warm sweet-and-savory mix was tasty. |
Caprese salad. Mozzarella, basil, tomato. But wait... |
It's actually a mozzarella foam inside candy! You trickster, you. Amazing salad. |
Quail with so much flavor! Pumpkin sauce was a delight as well. |
Saffron risotto with licorice powder. Perfectly cooked, though not a fan of the overpowering licorice. |
'Pasta' which is more like ham and cheese filled ravioli. Pretty good, though. |
Salt cod with dried tomatoes and vinegar jelly. I loved the firm, slightly chewy texture. |
Chicken! With tiny portions of tomato, olive paste, and onion/potato. |
Lemons on lemons. Sorbet, cream, and shortcake. |
They served lemons and liquid nitrogen in silver as we tasted our lemon dessert. |
Sphere dessert. Similar to the salad, it's a sweet foam inside the candy exterior. |
Happy Anniversary gift from restaurant - chocolate cake. Yum! |
Last but not least, more desserts to wrap everything up. Tiramisu popsicles, lavender tarts, fruit juice shots. |
Langosteria 10 is a must if you love seafood. High quality fish and still-squirming shellfish greet you the moment you enter the restaurant and 85 euros for a 6 course full of lobsters, king crabs, and more is not a bad deal for what you get. It's also got an extensive wine menu thanks to its ties to Krug. Even the most elusive champagne and wines can be found for cheap here! We were pleasantly surprised for find even
Jacques Selosse at only 50% markup in comparison to the usual double or triple (owner told us exactly how much he sells his champagne for dealers) here.
My face was a no-no, but this is the front of the restaurant |
Fish/seafood at the entrance |
My date <3 |
Beautiful decor and lighting |
They glued a boat on the celing |
6 course dinner, highly recommended. |
Menu that looks exactly like the one at Krug's |
Warm tomato soup with clams. Delicious! |
Amberjack tartare with shrimp. Lime, salt, olive oil. Again not a fan of raw shrimp, but it was ok. |
Cold gazpacho with large chunks of lobster. So good! One of my favorites. |
Clam and squid pasta. So simple, but super flavorful and tasty. |
Sea urchin pasta. Since the boyfriend hates squid/octopus, they changed it to this one for him. Very good! |
Large chunks of king crab with garlic and other herbs. So good! |
And to finish the meal, apple sorbet. You can feel the little morsels of green apples. |
Bonus: gelato!
No trip to Italy is complete without some real gelato. This one called
Chocolat is one of the best rated in Milan, loved by locals and tourists alike.
Line out the door! |
Everyone needs 10+ variations of chocolate flavors. |
White chocolate, pistachio, and milk chocolate. |
Love Milano :)
