Live, Love, Laugh in Barcelona

Days in Barcelona was diverse: sunny and humid or sunny and perfect. The Airbnb rental heightened our experience in the beautiful city, with its central location and large balcony I could hang out in.

For lunch I'd prepare some quick tapas with ham and perfectly ripe fruits as dessert. Other times I'd walk down the street for some new finds, like this butcher-to-table mini grocery store.

Pirineu en Boca is a little grocery store and butcher shop that offers its meats to go or dine in the cozy little shop. They had fresh meats and perfect pairings, organic when possible. You could also eat inside their garden or sit by the window.

During the day I shopped along the Passeig de Gracia, the main shopping street. It's the 'Champs-Elysees' of Barcelona.

You can enjoy the luxury shops and historical architecture or go off on the beaten path to find bargain shops or little boutiques like the Happy Pills that I found. You walk into the sterile candy shop, pick a bag or your very own pill box, self-serve your candy and pick a sticker that matches your pills.

And the obvious 'must-see' sites, such as Casa Batllo, cannot be missed. It's not only a beautiful architectural genius of a museum, but with online tickets, VR audio guides (the device interacted with your surroundings as you walked via camera), and free wifi the entire experience was modern and extremely convenient. It was honestly one of the best overall museum experiences I've had.

Barcelona at night brings out a different crowd. After a siesta during the lazy day, people re-energize for dinner and drinks. The city is just as colorful at night as the day. I chose to stay out until I found a concert to see in the Palau de la Musica to see Tete a Tete by Ignasi Terraza and Bert Van Den Brink. I was so mesmerized by the beauty of the concert hall and the music that didn't realize at the time, but the two pianists were blind. They are musical geniuses that compose their own songs as well as play hours of different tunes, all the complex music memorized in their heads.

Barcelona is a truly diverse city full of life and spirit. It's impossible not to fall in love with this city.
