So many weeks, so little posts.
I went through a computer crash (2 weeks later, still not repaired) and a hectic schedule. So aside from apartment hunting in Prague, we were involved in a documentary which required days and days of filming.

Professionals. |
Imagine that nearly most of the film material gets edited out, since a lot of retakes and 'just in case' backup filming takes place. So for every 5 minutes of documentary, you invest 5-7 hours of filming. Our documentary will be about 50 minutes, so you get the idea. It was a lot of filming, sometimes keeping us up for 18 hours, and even we were tired. But the film crew who had much more work to do were so silly and energetic the entire time that it was enjoyable. Kudos!

We were invited to do a coffee tasting which was a new experience for us, which would all be captured on camera. I didn't expect much, since Prague isn't known for its coffee, but boy was I wrong.
La Boheme Cafe is a roomy cafe, with fancy decor and hipster-looking staff. Free wifi and friendly atmosphere draws you in. It's got walls of teas, coffees, and equipment for sale. But upon closer look, none of the coffee is from another company; they are all marked La Boheme Cafe. This little cafe is actually also a coffee boutique, sourcing their coffee beans themselves.
When we met the owner, Charles, a New Yorker turned coffee connoisseur, we learned that he actually travels all over the world to source the best coffee beans directly from the farmers. In fact he had just returned from Africa a couple days prior to the shoot for yet another round of quality coffee bean search. Him and his family moved all from, coincidentally, my native town in Washington area to Prague after he quit his job in the pharmaceutical industry to follow his passion in coffee. And let me tell you, the upstairs tasting room was as intense as his passion.

They roast their own coffee after experimenting with precise temperature and seconds, 'cupping' or tasting their new finds every day. I won't get into every detail, but we had our first coffee tasting that is arguably an art form in itself.
 |
1. Pour water into freshly ground coffee. They said somewhere from 92-96 C is the golden temperature. |
 |
2. Smell while measuring the time of steep. |
 |
3. Break the crust and remove all beans and foam. |
 |
4. Taste! You slurp just as you would with wine. |
Afterwards, we tasted some of their a la carte drinks. I opted for the less caffeinated option, almond milk matcha latte, which was amazing. Naturally sweet with a kick of matcha!
We went to various locations for the shoot, including the
Showdown Poker Club and
Prague Golf & Games which is a glow in the dark game room with an awesome escape the room feature. We managed to escape with just us two, retakes and all - in only 40 minutes.

Later at night, we finished off with a session of poker stream. We found an amazing house-boat called
Port X. They found this amazing place from
AirBnB which was easy to rent.
The super-modern modular home floats on the river, a fully remote controlled dwelling with an option to install solar panels to go fully off grid if needed. They have a kitchen, toilet, and a real shower as well!

Who wouldn't want to work here? It's fantastic! |
Once the sun set, it was time to play online poker. We would be doing a double film here, since the poker is streamed live while being recorded for the documentary. I spent a lot of time feeding the swans that came near the balcony.
Yes, the swans were complimentary perks in the apartment rent. Talk about good value!

More silly moments |
Until next time, Prague!
