Date Night in Vegas

Hello, Sin City! I've missed your glitz and energy so, so much.

Can I make a tiny confession? I've been in Las Vegas for a month already without posting anything about it. The bf and I arrived in Vegas to work and under the unusual circumstances, have not had much chance to enjoy the city.

It's been a busy summer and I haven't had the time to even find material to write about. Sad, but true!

During the entire month, we had one official date night at the Wynn. I decided to milk the rare opportunity for shameless photo ops. I was determined to make our night worthwhile!

I'm currently staying at Vdara where they have an amazing spa, a perfect place to start your date with a couples massage.

Co-ed 'meditation room,' which is just a room with lounge chairs.

SW Steakhouse and Wynn

We started at the magical indoor forest that's as gaudy and ADHD as Vegas nightlife. The trees are decked in lights root-to-leaf and hung heavily with giant globes of real flowers. As if that were not enough, there are hot air balloon and carousel installations made entirely with over 100,000 neon-colored flowers.

I had to pose with it, just once.

It looks just as gaudy in B/W?

As you make your way to the SW entrance, you are greeted by chandeliers that look like upside-down umbrellas. If you watch them long enough you will notice each of them are wired to constantly move up and down.

And behold, the SW Steakhouse! Not only do they serve literally the best cuts of steaks in the US, but thanks to the owner Steve Wynn's vegan appetite, also an amazing vegan menu.

SW entrance
As of 2014, SW was the ONLY authorized restaurant in the entire US that serve authentic Japanese Kobe beef. As amazing as it sounds, the Kobe beef is a huge scam as there simply isn't enough product to ship outside of Japan. (But let me tell you, I've had it a few times in Japan and I nearly vomit every time from the unusually high fat content - it is quite literally like beef flavored butter - only a piece or two is more than enough!)

Giant pool with nude sculptures

My favorite part aside from their amazing steaks is their waterfall/pool where they perform an artistic show every half hour or so. The outdoor seating with this amazing view is booked weeks in advance, whereas the indoor is readily available.

My favorite is tomahawk, which is a huge charred bone-in steak packed with flavor that's enough for 3 people. But since it was just us two we ordered the pepper crusted Chateaubriand, which was buttery soft without much fat. Other must haves aside from steaks are the king crab legs, which are as big as my wrists, and the salads. The baked potato is awesome, too, but note that it's as big as your head.

King crab legs

Kale and apple salad, cut super thin that it's almost a herb texture. Candied pecan on the side.

Medium rare Chateaubriand

Giant potato with sour cream, chives, and sweet bacon

It's HUGE!

Funnel cakes here come with three sauces and strawberries. Chocolate, vanilla, salted caramel - I wanted to drink the last one.

Date night success!

<3 goodbye everyone!

  1. Wow, those photos are truly inviting! And that spa session and couple's massage seems to be the perfect start for a date night. Anyway, I do hope you get more time to fully enjoy what Las Vegas has to offer. Thanks for sharing with us, Jenny! Cheers!
